This is frustrating

Last Friday, I went to our local tire store to buy a new set of tires
for the pickup. I was in the store for 5 minutes, had a mask on the entire
time and used hand sanitizer before and after. Manager also had a mask on during the entire exchange.

Today, my sil and I met at the store to leave the truck for tomorrow.
There was a sign on the door indicating that the store was closed and to
call their other branch. I called and they said to bring the
truck up and they would get the tires and install them. So we did. I asked
the guy in the store if the manager was the one who got sick. He said he was. Got sick over the weekend. (He said he was not supposed to tell me who got sick.)

I interacted with this guy for only a few minutes. Never got too close. He
did print a quote and hand it to me. I approved and handed it back and he
threw it away. I called my doctor who wants me, my wife and our son to quarantine and get tested. We're all our risk (age for me and wife and our son is special needs). Apparently Walgreens has set up a testing facility near which produces a blood result in a few hours. We will go tomorrow
and see what happens. We're not sure if a negative test tomorrow is the final answer.

Supposed to head to the beach with the grandkids this weekend. That looks out for now.

If I had not followed through, I would have never known. Hope we're worried for no reason but it sure makes plans change.

we had a sort of similar situation at the beginning of july except it was more of a carem shot. a friend's son was in contact with his friend, and then his dad, and then the dad was in contact with us before the friend tested positive. as soon as we found out we self-isolated for 14-days even though our doc said the odds of getting infected were miniscule. we're fine, our buddy and his son are fine. his son was tested and it came back negative and he's fine.

my wife had two doctor's appts during the 14-day period, on on day 13 and another on day 14. i spoke with the practice's triage nurse who, after a short interview, she approved keeping the appointments. she told me...and this is my point for the OP...that most people who do get sick get sick between days 5-7.

the OP should isolate but if the OP wants to get tested i'd wait till day 8 or so but if they're feeling fine at day 8 they're likely negative. we elected not to get tested but it can't hurt if the OP decides differently.

My Son had Covid 19 while living with his wife and 3 children.

None of his family got the virus.

Thanks, we will get tested tomorrow but my doc said we will need a followup test along the lines of your comment.

The thing to remember is testing will tell you very little, it will not change the way you are treated if it is positive, and likely will not help much in a close family living situation unless someone goes and stays in the RV.

I had hands on with a guy and was around him for about 2 hours that tested positive. I didn't get it, neither did his wife that was in the coach with him for a week. Go have fun

I think you'll be fine since you both had masks on. I hope so.

The young man that delivered water here 2 weeks ago told me he had only been out of quarantine for 10 days when he came here. His girlfriend got the virus and he cared for her for the 3 weeks she was ill. He had 3 negative tests before being released from quarantine. He never got it.

The best news I’ve heard about this virus comes from the DOD. Out of 25,000+ cases among active duty military, there have been only 3 deaths. I believe the lesson here is that healthy people aren’t dying. I may be 69, but I’m active and healthy. I'm not taking any risks but my mind is eased by the fact that I’d most likely survive if I did get it.

That's a pretty good incentive to stay healthy and not take on any new bad habits. I'm walking a little further each day in hopes of staying that way.

From what I have read it is likely a combination, of health conditions, and the way the bodies immune systems changes as we age, so that even relatively healthy older people are at far more risk than compromised younger people.

It seems like every morning I wake up with a sore throat, or a cough, or a head ache or whatever and immediately go into paranoid mode, thinking about where I’d been, who I’d been in contact with, what I’d done to possibly expose myself, etc. Then I have a cup of coffee, realize I was probably snoring, read this forum and some other news stuff, feel better and go on with my day.

The misinformation and contradictions from the media and officials, and all the idiotic social media stuff has us far more worried than is warranted. What a disservice those in a position to inform have done us all with their agendas, arrogance, and ignorance! It’s unforgivable and we should never forget how this crisis has been misused, and act accordingly.

So I’m not participating in this covid deal any more. I’m done. I doubt I’ll get sick and if I do I’ll weather the storm. But I’m not going to live my live around opinions from a bunch of fallacious, misleading, hypocritical, dishonest members or the media or public figures.

Both my wife and I got it about 4 weeks ago from a close family member coming into our house. I am retired Army and we are both 68 and... we have always exercised and maintained good health. Had some aches and temps hovering around 100, controlled by lots of Tylenol. Army’s guidance was to self isolate 14 days. We complied and were medically cleaned after 15 days.

I hope you follow your doctor's advice and don't take this exposure lightly like some post have suggested. People that don't heed the doctor's advice have caused this pandemic to spread out of control. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem! A month from now some people may live or die as a result of your choice to quarantine or not.
