Sure go out and spread the virus! You all are stupid, there is a reason countries are locking down and closing borders...

But nah its all media hype blame it on the democrats , the republicans, everyone you can....

This is how it spreads... Community transmission...

I would make sure you use those gloves on the fuel pumps, cause that is the only possible way you can get it....

I Pray to god they lock it down. How does everyone think it got here? By magic?
It was transmitted by people traveling, and pretty sure the majority of them didnt know they were infected and didnt know they had contact with infected people.... and on and on....

I am not an attorney and my lack of knowledge of Constitutional Law reflects that, but short of declaring Martial Law, I don't see how the government can legally prevent citizens from moving around the country. From what I recall, Freedom of Movement is a guaranteed right.
Hopefully, we won't have to find out.

Pretty sure New York already did something along those lines...

With T-dog declaring a state of emergency a whole lot of things are now possible.....

The president has declared a state of emergency. That means if they tell you to stay home you better stay home.
Next if you contract the virus you will automatically be put in quarantine. The minimum is 2 weeks. There are several that have been in quarantine for 50 days and are still testing positive.

So is it really going to kill you to stay home to help make everyone safer? You should all read this report.

Less people will get the virus and less people will die from it if we all take a few week pause in our life. But I get it there are a lot of selfish people who can't think of anyone but themselves.

Calm down skippy. There are already thousands of people who have had the virus and recovered from it without even knowing. Nobody is going to tank the economy by the wholesale limiting of travel within the US ("guy" at the pentagon source or not).

X2. The virus is here...confirmed in 49 states. So, wash your hands; practice social distancing; if sick stay home, if you have underlying health issues hunker down; don't panic!!! Can anybody spare some toilet paper???

I agree, we are doing the same. It’s getting insane down here with hoarders cleaning out stores and now I’m told my travel medical will only cover me for 10 days to get home. If one of us needs hospital care down here it will bankrupt us and we would prefer to be sick at home where we have family support and the comfort of our home, makes more sense that isolating in our motor home.

With two aging parents at 91 up in Illinois we were restricting our travel mainly up there to sit for a minimum of 5 months this year anyway. I would hope if they put domestic travel restrictions in place we would still be allowed to go from Florida to Illinois in April, but maybe not.

I'm guessing some of the more restrictive measures that will soon come out will involve the mandatory closing of non-essential retail stores. In other words, grocery stores and drug stores may be allowed to stay open but clothing stores, bars, and restaurants will have to close.

Since I'm here in Texas (McKinney), I'll say we aren't to the Omega Man apocalypse, yet.

The issue you will have is many attractions are closed, at least for the next 30 days. If you are visiting friends & family, then just go. And practice good hygiene - that you should have always been doing anyway - and social distance in public.

And for those that don't today, start washing your hands regularly - 20 seconds - especially after getting fuel. That is just gross.

How dare you call these nice folks stupid just because they have a different opinion from yours! Mostly they are talking about summer trips and they obviously are weighing the consequences both ways. Seems pretty reasonable to me!

With all due respect, your post demonstrates a misunderstanding of the objectives of social distancing. No one denies that the vast majority of the people who contract COVID-19 will recover well without medical attention. However, there are segments of the population who may suffer far more serious consequences. Because no one has an immunity to this disease we all will catch it if sufficiently exposed to it.

The primary purpose of social distancing is to slow the transmission of the virus so the number of seriously ill people doesn't overwhelm the country's health care system. Avoiding large crowds slows the spread among the general population and actions such as stopping visits to nursing homes, senior centers, etc, reduce the risk to the most vulnerable.

There is an excellent article in today's NY Times in which it is pointed out that social distancing can work, but only if virtually everyone participates. If some people still insist on going to bars, restaurants to "hang out" the effectiveness of the measure will be greatly reduced.

I am certainly not advocating to ignore the request for social distancing. In fact we have been doing so since Thursday and plan on continuing to do so for the next few weeks, following CDC recommendations.
I am questioning the legality of restricting freedom of movement within the US. Much has been said about it but no one has actually addressed how this would happen. Just because the government imposes it doesn't mean it's legal. And how would it be enforced? Local police? National Guard? Army?
These are things to ponder and ask questions about. The US is not Italy, France, China.
If everyone does what the CDC recommends and stays home and practices what the CDC recommends, then hopefully this scenario will not have to be tested.
