They've already discovered that men are more likely to develop symptoms and that they are more likely to turn severe and more likely to die. The Man/Woman breakdown in illness is 60/40 and death is about 70/30 worldwide.

The trouble with trying to understand this kind of data is that it's impossible to know the health of the population before they got sick. For example, I read one new report which said that Chinese men smoke and drink significantly more than Chinese women. Therefore, is the bias towards men the result of that rather than an affinity for the disease infecting men?

Similarly, I don't know if smoking was/is as prevalent in Italy as it once was in other European countries. If smoking damages lung tissue does it create an easier entry point for the virus?

All of these sorts of factors have to be analyzed before we can draw accurate conclusions.

When you start working the percentages that's when the monster starts rearing it's head. With how contagious this thing is and just the sheer number of people that will get it then the 20% requiring hospitalization is overwhelming. I've read article after article on this thing the last few weeks and each one is more concerning than the last.

Great trip you have planned! We did almost the exact same trip last year at the end of March. You are going to miss my favorite place and that is Galveston go around Houston it is just a HUGE city. If you are planning on stopping and not sightseeing GO. If you plan to go to San Antonio riverfront shops and restaurant's, sightsee at your stops, CANCEL now. New Orleans, as far as cleanliness on Bourbon Street, is questionable during normal times. I would not go there ! That is a current HOT SPOT for COVID-19.
Save that trip for after this mess, don't let that be your legacy.

Orange County Florida is now shut down. This includes Orlando. No unnecessary travel, no visiting with friends unless emergency, plus only necessary shopping for medical, groceries or pharmacy. Wash hands, use hand sanitizer, six feet between people. Nomadic Fanatic, Heberd's Travels both in same Thousand Trails. Park not closed, but nearly full.

The Herberts said they have to leave on April 7th. That makes no sense in a lockdown.
