Traveling from Vermont to U.P. Michigan

Just wondered if anyone has looked into traveling from the Northeast to Northern Michigan (U.P.) through Quebec and Ontario. Looks like it will open up with some COVID restrictions in early August. I was planning on it, but it seems to be a bit confusing when if by chance you test positive at the border, you have to have a 14 day quarantine plan. Does that mean you have to do it in Canada or return to the U.S. for the 14 days? No number to call on the website to get that information. All else makes sense as far the the ARRIVE-CAN app that you have to down load.

If you test positive you could simply not enter Canada. They can’t hold you. If you wanted to proceed, then yes you would be subject to the 14 days.

Either way, this year, I’d just go around. Not worth the hassle.

I found this number on the the CBP website for questions and inquiries: (877) 227-5511. Not sure where in VT you might be crossing but here is the station at the top of I-89 in Highgate: (802) 868-2778.

When I used to do that run I would cross over in The Massena NY/Cornwall Ontario spot and pickup 401 across Canada there, but I would think the above #s should get you some answers from a live person.

Good luck!

After I posted it occurred to me that Canada may give you different entry answers then US CBP, here is the number for Canada: 1-800-461-9999.

Be sure to read this thoroughly. Looks like you have to complete an app & send them proof of vaccination:

Everybody should have a vaccination before going anywhere in public.
