Traveling thru New York, New Jersey and Connecticut

I checked with the New York Governors press office regarding travel thru the 3 states involved in the travelers 14 day quarantine if coming from a high coronavirus positive state as we are going to New Hampshire and you can’t get there without going thru New York, New Jersey or Connecticut. The following is a response from the New York Governor’s press office:

The quarantine does not apply to travelers who are just passing through the state. You can find more guidance here: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/co...ravel-advisory

Specifically:

The requirements of the travel advisory do not apply to any individual passing through designated states for a limited duration (i.e., less than 24 hours) through the course of travel.

Examples of such brief passage include but are not limited to: stopping at rest stops for vehicles, buses, and/or trains; or lay-overs for air travel, bus travel, or train travel.

Just an FYI for our fellow RV’ers headed to northern New England

I've not seen any check points anywhere inspecting for RVers coming from high contagion states. Just stay on the Interstate Hwys.

Our friends just came up from S. Carolina to CT for a week and then here to central NY, to stay on their boat.

No check points.

I hope your friends obeyed the mask and isolation protocols when they were “passing through”.
New York State already has fines in place and if the travel restrictions are not respected the other states will follow.

I wonder what their rule is for people who are from a listed state, but haven't been in that state in the past 14 days?

I doubt there is such a rule. That would require some intelligence on the part of the rule makers.

I guess I could turn in my friends and then ask them if they got the rules explained to them.

Traveling thru New York, New Jersey and Connecticut

Vermont has a relatively low rate of infections. They are allowing visitors from counties with similar low rates to travel without a quarantine requirement. They are using a statistical formula to estimate active cases per million people. Their web site has a map, updated weekly, showing active cases/million by county for the northeast region. The latest map is expanded south to Virginia and west to Ohio. It can be useful when planning trips in the northeast.
Here is a screenshot of today’s map and a link to their web site for future use.
