How about the 60 plane loads of medical supplies coming over from China?
If you were working in a containment area would you want to put a face mask on which was made in the country the virus first appeared in?
How many of the meds will be tested to be sure they aren't "Watered down" so the companies across the big pond can increase their profit? Chalk makes good looking pills.
If nothing else good comes of this disaster we might just learn over here to be more self sufficient. Make it in America and buy it in America. Let us be the exporters for a change.

I agree but I will have to add Canada so I wish for North America made. I will do my part and when I have a choice it will be N.A. made, If made elsewhere I will have to weigh the need factor. I have recently found out our “needs” are far less than they were last month.

If people have extra food/supplies they don’t need, I would suggest bringing them to a food pantry. There’s going to be a huge need in the coming year.

I've tried this afternoon to find a bottle of hand sanitizer to keep in my truck. I must have called a dozen stores and there's not one bottle to be found.

For many years now I have looked for North American made goods. Canada, USA and Mexico. Yes it likely costs me a few dollars but I have the knowledge that I am keeping my neighbors in employment. That also keeps me employed as well. I buy local as much as I can. Encourage others here to do the same. I need a service I'm looking at local trades people. We have some awesome tradeswomen here as well. Wish there were more in my trade.

I've been beating this drum for years. It's an uphill battle though, as most have become accustomed to the prices we see at the box stores on imported goods. They look like the things we're used to, but the quality is just not there. The prices would never be sustainable for US-made goods.
I can find jeans at the box stores for less money today than my mom paid for them when I was a kid. In what world is that normal? It's going to take something like our current crisis to push people to change their shopping habits and realize that it's not necessary for everyone to own the amount of 'stuff' we have nowadays. Then we can get back to supporting local businesses and not have to worry about shortages when the overseas supply chain breaks down.

It's too late to Edit my post so I will just offer an apology to my friends up north and agree with "North America".
My American Chevy truck was made in Canada.

It's a world economy and competition is necessary for any business to survive. Practicing a "local only buying theme" will only delay the inevitable, because the local producer will eventually have to match the price/quality or go out of business. Competition is the engine of the economy, without it any business would grow stale and just die.
We should embrace competition, even though it's painful for some. It's part of the foundation core of every business.

Right, look how much Walmart has grown by going global in their merchandise.
