Have you looked at the Oasis Zephyr? Not that I'm recommending or endorsing it, but it might be an easier swap than a AH-450. Form factor is much closer to the 250, and it's a single loop system. You'd still have Firefly challenges, but the plumbing might be simpler....

There is an Aqua Hot/ Hydro Hot page on FB with some very knowledgeable folks participating. There is a detailed write up on the difficulty of changing a 250D to a 450. I think I would look at the gen 3 version of the 250D as an alternative.

If you are interested in knowing if you have a Gen 01 or a Gen 02, it can be found on the sticker on the right side of the unit near the bottom. Second line up from the bottom has it in the Model number.

My diesel burner serial number reads: DB200388
My model number reads: AHE-250-D01
My serial number reads: A250D-200388
