I changed mine with just a towel under it. Little bit of speed required but only lost a few ounces. I don’t know why you’re seeing so many failures. High voltage?

That dark fluid and scum line on the overflow tank is normal. It's from the inside of all the hoses. Aquahot will tell you to just leave it alone and it's normal. If you flush the system you are going to be right back to the same looking fluid fairly quickly.

Hmmm, thanks for that info tidbit from Aquahot, and good to know. I was concerned as this unit has not had the yearly service on it in over two years easy, and was getting all the materials on hand to do it myself. The Aqua Hot service kit has a Portable Refractometer to check the clarity of the fluid...thus thought
it had to be flushed. I was thinking the "dirty" liquid was contributing to the failures of the control thermostat, in addition to the epoxy issue on the thermostat.

I was thinking adding a ball valve where the thermostat screws in then add the thermostat. quick turn of the ball valve, replace thermostat, open ball valve and done. 2 minute repair.

AquaHot fluid clarity

I installed this hot water filter system, in line about two years ago. It doesn't seem to cause any backup in the system. Everything in the coach works fine. We live in Colorado, so it gets to work during the winter. However I'm getting ready to put a new control thermostat in my 450D. Last one I installed was two years ago. I have changed the 450D to an unpressured system.
I have no idea why this picture loaded sideways. Some things I am competent with, computers, not so much

Are you filtering the boiler fluid or hot water?

Aquahot filter

We have a whole house filter system on the motorhome itself. This filter is to filter the red transfer liquid only.

I have found A lot of folks when fumbling around in there, can move wires. This can cause slight breaks at the ends of wires Surely they are mfg this way on purpose . As people do throw money at part and ahot loves that scenario on the other hand most companies. Do this so you just buy new stuff common practices. However ahot INMHO is a poorly dependable water heater at very very Best. I have got wind their is new products coming to market. Surely anything will be better then ahot. Or should I say Alukewarm systems. 😄
