Just beginning to shop for locking fuel caps. Any suggestions for the M2 106.

Thanks,

Here is the Freightliner part number for the locking fuel cap

03-34467-006

some of the OEM caps work ok, but reading reviews looks like they are hard to lock/unlock/remove the keys... we are going to order the Freightliner caps today..

Don't forget to put armor all around the fuel tank. Long gone are the days of siphoning. Now they use a portable drill and drill holes in the bottom of the fuel tank, fill up whatever container they have and let the rest just go on the ground.

Just assuming the reason.

I'd rather they drill my fuel tank than dump random crap in that kills the engine.

nothing wrong with adding another line of defense.. Kind of like the Navy providing a line of defense for the Marines...

They sell them at Raney’s. I actually got the same ones online from Walmart for a few bucks cheaper. Seems like they are sold out right now, but I imagine they will restock soon enough.

The Marine Corp is to the Navy as the handle is to the bedchamber pot. We are attached to it. not in it.

The modern day automobiles do not have gas caps. My 2013 doesn't, just open the flap where the spout is and fill'er up. I guess one could modify the gas filler door with a 751 key lock.

Vented or non-vented?

I see Raney's offers both versions. Do you think the existing cap is non-vented?

The original OEM is stamped on the inside of your fuel cap. You can use it as a cross reference when ordering.

Get two keyed alike then you will have 4 keys. Also, I would recommend a locking def cap. I was never worried about theft but I had a dirt bag put crap in my fuel at a Hydroplane race years ago ended up costing me 11K by the time I was done. Guess we were to fast that weekend. That was one of the first mods I made when I got the Renegade.

Agree on both fronts.

If you order two from Raneys or Walmart they will come keyed the same.

Your story re sabotage is my primary concern. People suck and if spending $300ish for locking / fuel DEF caps saves me a giant pain in the butt, it is money very well spent.

Sorry to hear that by the way.
