Missing Manuals???
I've been trying to understand all maintenance requirements for my coach while (impatiently) waiting for winter to end. Most significantly, I find that I'm missing:
- Allison transmission manuals and
- Manuals for front and rear axles.
I'm wondering:
- Did other recent Renegade owners receive those manuals at time of purchase?
- Have other recent Renegade owners found a source for those manuals?
Thanks!
PS: FWIW, I did find an Allison website where manuals are available. However, none of those I found were free! Silly me, but I kinda think an owner paying the price of a Renegade should be entitled to a manual. Even if one grudgingly accepts paying for a manual, it seems very hard to buy the "right" one. That's because there are many (slight?) transmission variations, with many different revisions, covered in a number of different manual types!

Suggest you do a search on eBay. Lots of old manuals show up.

The manual for the transmission was included in the binder of manuals that came with our coach. I would think that a call to Allison would get you one. No manuals or information on the axles though.

Questions:
1. p. 52, Owner's Manual says:
"Allison requires all 3000 and 4000 Product Family transmissions to have the main filter (not the lube filter or fluid) changed after the first 5000 mile (8000 km) or 200 hours of operation, whichever comes first."
Are others aware of this very early service requirement? Are others actually changing their main filters after only 5000 miles?
2. p. 53, Owner's Manual says:
25,000 mi/12 mo fluid change interval
(w/ Non-TranSyndTM/Non-TES 295 Fluid)
OR
150,000 mi/48 mo fluid change interval
(w/ TranSyndTM/TES 295 Fluid)
So, how is anyone supposed to know which fluid is in their transmission? Without knowing, how does one decide on the proper service interval?
I suppose I could be over-thinking all of this. My only is excuse is there could be lots of $$$ on the line. (For reference, I have an Allison, 3200 TRV, 4th gen transmission.)

I have info to report relative to question 1 in my previous post. Thought it was worth documenting just in case anyone reads this stuff.
Gold Series filters were once used in some Allison transmissions. During that period of time, there was a requirement to change the Gold Series filter in the "main" position at 5000 miles. However, High Capacity filters replaced the Gold Series around 2006. For unspecified reasons, these High Capacity filters DO NOT have that initial replacement requirement at 5000 miles. Details are available in the following links.
https://familyrvingmag.com/2017/11/0...november-2017/
https://www.irv2.com/forums/f125/ini...nge-41037.html
I can't explain why the Gold Series filter in the "main" position had to be changed while the filter in the "lube" position was somehow OK. It's a mute point now I suppose.
I also can't explain why the current Allison 3000/4000 series manual STILL describes an initial service requirement for replacement of the "main" filter at 5000 miles. Allison document quality control???
