Replacing Satellite Question
I have been less than thrilled with the performance of the Winegard In Motion satellite dish that came with my Verona. While I expected drop outs while driving, I am finding it hard to lock onto satellites even when parked with a clear view of the sky. I get low signal strength when I am able to lock on and the slightest cloud will give me signal loss. I am finding we very rarely watch TV in motion and am wondering if the Winegard Trav'ler dish might be a better dish to use. Has anyone replaced their In Motion dish with a Trav'ler and how did that install go?

If I change I am going to get an RF Mogul instead of a Traveler because the brain box of the Mogul is inside the coach, not on top like the Traveler. In case of a problem the Traveler must be removed and shipped to the factory for repairs. The Mogul can be fixed on the coach. The Verona is prewired for a Traveler so no new wires need to be run. The Mogul needs a new power wire run so the cost of installation will be a little higher.

I replaced my in-motion with the RF Mogul and enjoyed fantastic reception from FL to Alaska and throughout the west.
Plus their customer service is great. I had an early motor failure and they were able to diagnose and send the parts. It was a 5 min. fix to replace the motor.

Ziggy,
Was it hard to run the new wire? I am also wondering exactly where it attaches in the Verona. Do you have Direct TV or Dish?
I called RF Mogul a few weeks ago and asked if the Mogul would simply wire up to my Traveler pre wiring and they said..."almost". I would need a different power wire.

The installer drilled another hole above the equipment cabinet and we fished the wire from there. If you know what you are doing it's an easy job. I would say he spent less than an hour removing and replacing, wiring and we were back up.

I was mistaken. It was the GPS that went bad but the skew motor tripped a code and they sent both just in case. Only the GPS was bad. Still was a 5 min. repair once on the roof.

Thanks all for the feedback as it really helps. Definitely will now have to consider the RF Mogul product as I would prefer the controller to be inside as well.

Just had The Winegard Trav'ler for Dish installed on my coach. The dealer left the in motion installed as it was on the passenger side and did not interfere with the Trav'ler The controller mounts inside the coach. On the 2020 Verona LE 40LTS it is the cabinet closest to the front on the right side.

Phil - You wouldn't happen to have a picture showing where on the roof they installed your Trav'ler would you? I have a 40VBH so I imagine our rooftop configuration is probably similar and that would help me with correct/best placement. Glad to hear the In-Motion dish can be left in place.

Phil,
Are you saying that a new Traveler's motherboard is now inside the coach or just the device for controlling the dish?
One of the objections to the Traveler by many people is that the "brain" is outside the coach unlike RF Mogul's. Thus the entire antenna must be shipped to Winegard for repair. The Mogul can be field repaired.
If the Traveler can now be repaired in the field it will be a major factor in my decision. Several Traveler owners that I have met say the shipping/packing to the factory is almost half what a new unit would cost.
