S2RV Chassis Question

My wife and I are in the market for our first RV. After a lot of research, I am pretty sold on the Renegade Valencia. We do have a rather large boat that we trailer all over the place, but I don't really see us combining it with RV trips. It is a 34' cabin cruiser and when we take it on trips, we stay on it. Plus, the boat and trailer weigh 22,000 lbs which would really need a 600hp XL/ Ikon and I don't care to spend that much on our first RV. Would rather make sure we are going to get into this as much as boating first.

I have been trying to research the S2RV chassis, but not a lot of info on it. I am curious on what all options Freightliner Custom Chassis offers on the S2? I really want a rear locker, which according to the manual is an available option. How likely am I able to add that option if I order a new Valencia? If Renegade wont allow that, how hard would it be to have a factory locker added to the Detroit rear diff? Also, is there any reliable way to gain any power on the ISB 6.7?

I'm sure I will have more questions as I continue my research!

Renegade won't do the rear locker install as part of the order on a Valencia. Maybe on a Classic / Ikon. I'd imagine some shop would be able to retrofit it, but no idea really.

There is no official/sanctioned way to get moar powah out of the ISB. 360/800 is as high as they go. You may be able to get an aftermarket tune done by one of the diesel tuner companies, but this may be illegal. But the gains from tuning would be modest unless you want to tempt fate on a blown engine. If you really want more you'll need to step up to the Verona at 350/1150.

Ok, I am still learning. Any idea why Renegade wont order the S2RV with the optional locker?

Also, I know there are alot of tunes able to be done without deleting emissions, which I assume would be reliable? On my last truck, a 2010 Duramax dually, I had 1,102 ft lbs at the rear wheels but it was super reliable. Of course, this was with a new turbo, lift pump, custom EFI Live tunes, built transmission, etc.

Valencia S2RV Chassis

Valencias are not built as custom coaches. The S2RV chassis is a one-size fits-all application for all RV builders. It is used for the Valencia, Jayco Seneca/Entegra Accolade, and Dynamax Force products.

You seem to know enough that the Renegade Verona or Dynamax Dynaquest is more in your wheelhouse. Factory rear locker and a 2-stage Jake Brake.

None of the above will tow 22,000# trailer.

Good Luck! 2018 Renegade Verona 36VSB

Just a quibble but Dynamax does not build anything on the S2RV chassis.
