No need to shift gears it is a AMT, Automated Manual Transmission, does the shifting for you.

found this thread out of frustration. We have had 3 super C's.
The last one was a classic with a dd13 and allison. Love hate with Allison but thats a different story. I live in the mountain SW and big "hills" are every departure and arrival home for me.
We finally built our dream coach with Renegade and after a long wait picked it up. Love lots about it ! Some coach issues being fixed (minor).
The new coach has a DD16/DT12 combo. Coming into NM got a check engine light. Not a pull over its going to explode one. Just the fix it one.
Ran fine. But this thing will not pull hills anywhere near as good as my last classic ? Into home state CO I find it wont due 45 up the last couple passes I used to do 60+ up. Is it the check engine or does this not pull as good ? I am super frustrated right now.

I would think and hope it is to do with the check engine light as you could do 60 with the DD13/Allison.

I too hope it has to do with a check engine. At the same time with parts scarce that could ruin my upcoming winter travel arrangements.

The DD16/DT12 powertrain is usually used in the bigger Classics. Is your new rig a 45' tandem? What was your old Classic? I have a 38' DD13/DT12 and it doesn't even downshift until the grade hits about 6%, but that's also without a check-engine light. Do you have any warnings in the center screen?

No other warnings. Just the empty yellow check engine (manual calls it amber).
My old was a 38 single .
New is a 41 tandem.
As I pulled grades I tried everything from letting it lug in 12th gear. To manual shifting and keeping revs in the 1500-1600 range. I matter what it just lost it’s a i Lott to hold speed on grade.
