Verona Winterizing

Looks like I might have to stay in Canada for the winter so Iím looking at winterizing the Verona for the first time ever. No air available so looking at antifreeze. Iíll need to buy a bypas for the hot water tank ( 17 Verona) and have read about the washer. What I need is an idea on how to winterize the ice maker. Water comes from the ceiling so need to get the ice supply line empty or antifreezed. Do I need to pull out the fridge?

Just disconnect the water to the ice maker wherever you can behind the refer and drain it by your best method. Have the ice maker make another load of ice OR, just don't bother with it. It's designed to be frozen so there's no worries with the ice maker. Only bother might be the water left in the tray getting skunky. But you can avoid that by shutting off the water, emptying the bin so it makes that last batch. Some water will dribble out the hose when it's disconnected behind the refer and that's good. Everything inside the freezer is okay and nothing to worry about. Next spring you just wipe it out with a wet towel with a tiny amount of bleach on it and run a couple trays full of water through it while making ice. Then toss that ice.

No need to remove the refer.

Thanks for the suggestion. My concern is the 6í of water line from the ceiling to the bottom of the fridge. Canít disconnect it without removing the fridge so not sure how it could be drained. Hoping someone with a Verona who has winterized can chime in. Samsung advises that supply line must be drained or it will likely crack.

There is a shutoff for the water line in the cabinet above the fridge... Just shut it off and make more ice to drain the line... Hopefully the low point drain takes the rest out of the line before the shutoff

I run antifreeze through the ice maker by cycling the ice maker 6-8 times. The button is located towards the front of the ice maker. This way I know it is protected.

Its pretty well disguised. It is underneath the ice maker towards the front. I’m not at the coach so I can’t be more exact right now.

It takes me a while to find it each time I do it.

I go through the same thing every winter trying to find that button. The fridge book will tell you where it is, I can tell you bottom front of ice maker but is recessed a bit. I assume so it does not get bummed into.

I will only use that button two more years.

Itís really easy to purge the water line to the ice maker with a six inch length of wire. I did it on my 2019 last year. Pop off the cover and stick one end of the wire in each of the 2 holes. That tells it to send the water. I just ran antifreeze through it that way. As soon as the water going in the tray was pink, it was good. Took just a few seconds.

Found the button.....thanx to all. Pushed it a few times, doesn't seem to do anything but Iíll play with it and get it to work. Likely the ice maker switch needs to be off where I have it on or perhaps the door needs to be closed. Weíll figure it out......thanks a bunch......

Fridge has to be on, ice maker has to be on, doors can be open, push and hold button for a few seconds. Oh make sure you have water pump or water pressure.

I just fold up a towel to put in basket under ice maker, and as I am doing other things during winterizing or un-winterizing i just reach in and push button till i get either clear or pink fluid.
