Water Filter in Water Control Compartment

I am thinking of removing the water filter and housing in the water control compartment and only using in line water filter on incoming hose. What do y'all think?

What is the purpose of switching from one filter to another?

I used an in external line filter at the end of the season because I was using the MH sporadically and did not want the one in the water bay to get funky. During my normal season I like the one that is built in, just my .02.

I end up using both.. The external when ever I fill the FWTank and on the City water line when using full hook ups..

I won't have my Valencia until April, but, doesn't the water also go through the filter to fill tanks? Even my Jayco does that.

Many of the installed water filters have a bypass plug to replace the filter. See if you have one for your coach.

On my Valencia that's how it works.

RoughRider3, your suggestion does not make sense to me. The water will flow through the inside filter housing anyway. Maybe if you change your filter often and find it difficult to remove the internal filter housing, it might be handier to have it outside.
I am aware of some people who add an external filter where there is a lot of sediment in the water enabling them to change the external filter more often.
Others use an external 5 micron filter to keep an internal 1/2 micron filter from getting clogged up too soon.

No need to remove the housing, unless there's a problem with it or you need the space or something. Just remove the filter and screw the empty cannister back on. Your water system will be just fine.

The bypass plugs mentioned above are used when winterizing so that you don't waste half a gallon of anti-freeze filling up the canister. (guess who forgot his this year...) One would work for you too, but you don't need it.

That said, I'm in the "both" camp. A blue cylinder "pre-filter" at the spigot end of the host and a good activated charcoal filter in the wet-bay cannister to make everything taste good.

Regards,

Randy
