Article on EV F350 Super duty requirements.

Hey folks. Ran across this article. Interesting. Talks about the challenges of making an EV electric F350 Super duty.

Enjoy.

Actually, I think range may be less of an issue for work trucks than for recreational use. A few hundred miles a day and a recharge overnight may be fine for lots of businesses. Many of us won't even be towing in another 13 years. Anyway, I expect we'll see a hybrid SD pretty soon, not really much downside. The hybrid F150 has good numbers, wish you could get the big fuel tank on it.

The majority of fleet vehicles likely never travel far out of town. I think 230 miles of range is more than adequate. That should provide at least 100 miles of towing, depending on the trailer size. Tow to the job site and back, then recharge overnight. Hundreds of dollars in fuel and maintenance will be saved. That's why the Lightning is seeing very high demand. For fleets and those that use trucks for work around town, they'll see operations and maintenance savings. Ford can simply ask them what range they need and what they're pulling, then offer a vehicle with that capability. The fleet can then apportion its vehicles between those that need to tow/haul long distance, and those that don't. I think we'll see electrified Super Duties far earlier than 2035. Right now, no one has battery capacity to supply that market.
