Interesting article on off-roading with an EV truck compared to an ICE truck.

Saw this on motortrend. Interesting read.

Cheers.

A Rivian would make a nice toad. Can it be flat towed?

I agree. Originally Rivian said yes. I have a screen capture of where they announced it. But recently they said no. So at this point no. It’s probably a software thing. Maybe it will be enabled later

That article has a glaring error. "Peak torque is made at 0 RPM" Torque is a measurement of movement.

No it's a measurement force, stand on a wrench trying to break loose a nut you are putting torque on the the nut with no movement until the nut breaks free.

Torque with movement is power, movement is rpm. Torque X RPM = power.

The feet in the torque unit pound-feet is the distance from the axis of rotation the pounds are applied on a lever not the distance its moves which would be foot-pounds which is a unit of energy as in muzzle energy of a bullet.

An electric motor can put out torque at 0 rpm, all electrical power is being dissipated as heat, as it starts to spin then more of electrical power is converted to mechanical power instead, we call this horsepower around here most everyone else like to use watts for electrical, heat and mechanical power.

This is what a typical electric car motor torque and power curve looks like, peak torque at 0 rpm up to peak power, this is why electric vehicles are so fun to drive:
