KOA starts installing pedestals with a J1772 connector for charging EVís.

Hi folks. Looks like KOA is going to start installing campsite pedestals with a J1772 connector for level 2 EV charging. The pedestals will be able to charge the EV and power the standard 50 amp RV receptacle at the same time.

And the KOA price to recharge your EV will only be 3 times what you are normally paying now. Cut the BS, KOA is looking at this as a money maker!!!

Considering KOA only owns a handful of parks (fewer than 10) and the vast majority of KOAs are independently-owned that franchise the KOA brand name, I wonder how they are going to structure the pricing of the upgrades for the actual campground owners (and the electrical infrastructure upgrades for those parks)?

The actual equipment is pretty cheap. But the infrastructure addition of what amounts to another 50 amp site at each site will be pricier.

Still, the word will spread and RVers pulling with EV’s will make cooperating KOA’s a default in their nav software. I have no doubt Tesla will incorporate them into their software, and if they don’t then the APP plugshare will.
