I believe the OP was asking if he could use a public Level 2 EV charger to charge his Ecoflow Delta Pro, a portable power pack commonly used as a home backup or by RVers and campers. Level 2 chargers are much slower than a Level3 DC fast charger, but faster than Level 1 charging from a household 110 AC plug. Level 2 chargers are generally used by people to charge their cars when time is not an issue, such as at home overnight or at an office building while they’re working.

I believe the answer to his question is ‘yes, you can probably charge the Ecoflow if it can accept that amount of power (check your owners manual) and with the proper plug adapter.” However, as pointed out previously, unless you’re charging at your own home, you will be taking up a charger intended for car charging which is annoying, and in many places may result in a ticket (if the police are really bored and cranky that day).

Not sure about elsewhere, but where I've been charging my car, having a non-EV parked in a EV spot is not a ticketable offense. The property owner can have the offending vehicle towed, but it's at their risk; the police department won't do it. Hence, the term "Ice-ing", when a non-EV (usually a big diesel pickup) parks in EV charging spots with no intention of charging.

Yeah, and I can see this as a path for revenge on the part of EV users. Not that I'd advocate such things but knowing how humans behave, this is a provocation inviting a response.

The answer is yes as the 240 from the L2 J1772 station will get turned into 120 volt for the RV. And although your ECO FLO will not charge as fast as some of that energy will be passed thru yes it will charge your ECO Flo as it was designed to do.

I would however be very careful where you do this as it may cause people inconvenience who were counting on a charge. L2 J1772 stations are often used by those without home charging and count on these to avoid L3 charging costs. And most are sized to handle only a car or truck. They are not RV camping spots. Best to use a campground for that. And it will probably cheaper.

We rarely use L2 chargers (other than those in our garage at home) but they are handy for some.

Hope that helps.

Not sure but I don’t think electrify America or electrify Canada operates L2 J1772 charge units. We have toured all over Canada and the US and never seen one.

Not the same thing. He'd be using the electric, paying for it. A more appropriate comparison would be sitting as a gas pump for two hours as your tank is being filled.

Now I'm curious if an adapter for a 50 amp rv plug could be used. Might be another way to stop, plug in, and run the A/Cs as we get a nap..... would negate the need to run a generator.

It would need some kind of protocol interpreter for the J1772 handshake. The ECOFLO the original poster is using has that.

But I’m not aware of a portable power station that has a 240 volt 50 amp output.

Any of the electric half tons on the market have them built in though.

Hope that helps.

Except he isn't doing it to charge the rv he's doing it to run the A/C for the dogs. But yes you can do anything you want but it doesn't make it right. Use the genny. That's why it's there.

EV charge stations

Just read the government stopping funding of the nation wide charging station network. Maybe this can be confirmed???

Some guy with a Sharpie pen signed something. Whether that truly ends the charging program remains to be seen. I hope that is sufficiently apolitical.
