Yah. Saw that. Kinda funny, one of the fox reporters was suggestions that there were hundreds of not only explosions but implosions of batteries. . I’m not sure what an imploding battery actually is. LOL. .

Don’t know about lithium powered cars under water, but this video shows the power of a single double a battery in water.

Lithium, like good bourbon, should never be mixed with another liquid.

Looks like four fires handed by North Collier Fire District:

The video points up the futility of adding plain water to a lithium fire.

It will be interesting to see how many ICE cars have issues after being submerged in Salt Water. Most will be totaled. Articles point out nothing other than it is probably not smart to drive a car after being submerged in Salt water until fully recertified for use.

Nothing new if you passed grade 8 science and chemistry class.

They will all be totaled. With the dozens of modules in a modern vehicle, there's no way to fix all the potential issues. Many modules are low-lying, like under and inside seats, consoles, etc.

Some are griping about lithium battery fires, yet they're totally clueless as to how much magnesium is on a modern vehicle. Ever see a Ford F series steering columm burning? Ever see a firefighter trying to hose THAT out? It's quiet an event and very common.

It is funny to see the naysayers that have no clue about what is really happening pick more and more crazy excuses to say it will never work. Literally the Model Y was the #1 selling car overall (not just electric) in Germany in the month of September. In several other countries as well last month. The switch is already happening and there is nothing going to stop it. Even with gas prices that drop back down, the electric vehicle is a better mouse trap. As soon as range increases and charge time decreases, and volume brings down prices, there will be no excuses left. I for one am looking forward to the advancements we will see in the next 10 years.

BEVs are Dixie Cups. They will never attain an average age on the road of 11 years, as their ICE powered big brothers have. There are BEVs going to the dismantlers now because of non-existent replacement batteries with older technology.

I’m no expert, but according to these guys there could be a problem in the future:

“Stanford engineers warn that electric car charging could crash a grid powered by renewable energy.”

Already posted.

Yes, sensational headline followed by an academic study that recommends changes of habit to early morning and mid-day charging to better take advantage of solar charging the grid. It only warns about any crash during high-use times, which happens in every state including Texas. The headline just as easily could have said "Some Relief for an Overburdened Grid?"

What does PGE say?

What an interesting post!

Most of the people who have complained about EVs have two operational issues. One, the range is too short and, two, the charging time is too long. So, after trashing those people ("that have no clue about what is really happening") what does this post say? Right. "As soon as range increases and charge time decreases" things will take off. But, of course, that is what those "naysayers" have been saying all along, so the poster seems to agree with what those who he is trashing.

As I wrote, what an interesting post.

My all electric BMW i4 arrived at the port in Galveston this afternoon after a trip from Germany on the "Horizon Highway" automobile carrier ship. The dealership expects it to be in our hands within 10-days max.

I have an electrician coming to prewire the garage and everything is falling into place. Which will cost a whopping $800. The car comes with a level two charger and can fast charge from 20% to 80% in 30 mins. We get 2-years of free charging at Electrify America fast chargers, too.

Of course, our BMW only goes 0-60 in 4 sec and it only can travel 302 miles on a charge. But being retired and having a motorhome we would never take the daily driver that far on a road trip. Of course, we do have our ICE toad at home as well.

I'll post photos after delivery.

Take that naysayers!!

Looking forward to your reviews and pics. Expect some frustrating experiences with Electrify America/Canada from time to time but they are apparently changing out problematic hardware. (Our experience with them has been about 50/50 and honestly we quit using them about 3 months ago so not sure if things have improved). And of course there are lots of other charge chains.

Sharp looking car though.

Yeah, we've heard all about it. We expect to be charging at home the vast majority of time. Our longest trips are in the 100 to 130 mile range.
