I am having a terrible time trying to light the water heater on my Lance 915. It is an Atwood, six gallons, with a "White Rogers" control.
I have purged the gas lines, best I know how, by running the stove top for about five minutes (all three burners).
I have been trying to light the water heater pilot with no success. This problem is worse if I let the camper sit a while (about four months) which tells me air gets into the line. I hold the pilot position for five minutes at a time while the high voltage spark is blasting away.....and the pilot refuses to light. I've been doing this off and on all day and...nothing!
Any ideas?"

Doug, I agree with Don. I have had the same problem more than once. You need to dis-assemdle the pilot. No big deal, easily done. There is a super tiny hole in the orfice. Soot bulds up in the piping and cloggs the hole.
Super easy to fix.
Good luck!

Thanks to all for the advice. It does, indeed, look easy to disassemble the pilot nozzle and stuff around it. I'll do it this morning.
Nice to know I'm not the only one with this little problem!

OK.
Disassembled the pilot orifice and....sure enough! There was a tiny 1/16 inch spider web completely clogging the outlet.
Live and learn!

Glad you located the problem! Spiders are attracted by the odorant in LPG, and are usually the culprit. My WH would not light in spite of my efforts, and $85 solved the problem. I called an onsite(in Denver) repairman, who charged me that amount for simply unplugging/reattaching each wire on the PC board to clean away the corrosion and the WH worked fine. Life is a learning experience that is never completed.
