Honey did you connect the tie downs
This accident happened on March 1st 2021 on I-75 south bound between the 109 and 110 mile marker in Ohio.
Not sure what happened to cause this but it ha just happened you can see the truck with the driver out in the right side of the picture. It looked like a fairly new slide in.
Anyone with thoughts on how it came off the truck?

Oh man...I am pretty careful about checking all the steps for loading or unloading but I know I can miss something. When I was trucking (28 years) I always made one last trip around the rig looking to make sure I didn't miss anything. That habit has served me well. Hope this wasn't worse than it looked. Meaning, I didn't see any other vehicles involved...

I'm with Longshore. I always make a slow, deliberate trip around. I check up top, underneath, and everywhere else, looking for safety issues, something left behind, etc. It's a great system and only takes minutes.

I think it comes down to a discipline. At least it does for me. I see so much of that lacking in today's world. But alas, that is another thread lol.

I’ve been TC camping for 45yrs and never seen an accident like this!
I check everything before we head out AND every time we stop….fuel, coffee, groceries, whenever. Lights, tie downs, trailer hitch, safety chains, etc…..also double check trailer brakes BEFORE leaving the parking lot or rest stop.
It’s a habit every TC owner should develop.
I also bungee all four jacks while camper is on the truck..

Thanks for posting that pic nvs4602.
Glad it didnt cause a pile-up on the highway. That would have been bad.
Closing thought. . .
I find it entertaining when TCers forget the 7 blade trailer connector and then pull the truck out from under the camper. The results are usually pretty bad for such a simple mistake.
Safe travels,
-Jake-

You would think that he would have felt it lift a little a couple of times before it became airborne.

When I sold my 11' TC a few years ago a guy from IN bought it sight unseen. (I'm in VA). I talked to him on the phone and he said he had a dually. I told him he needed camper tie downs. He said he went to a camper dealer who didn't know anything about truck campers and they told him he didn't need them. Doh!
He showed up at my house with no tie downs. He said he was going to use ratchet straps. But, he didn't bring those either. He was going to go buy some but I live about 18 miles from the nearest place that sells them.
So, I gave him some I had and sent him on his way.
I never heard from him again. I hope he made it home.
