Let's see your 1/2 ton camper setup

Hello all

I have a small popup camper with a 2 wheel drive truck and would love to see your setups. I have been from Florida to Maine with mine only dry camping no state parks only dispersed camping.

Nice looking camper. And it looks like this was at the beach! All the better!! You had replied on my thread and I appreciated your comment. [emoji4]

Have to admit I’ve been adamantly opposed to the pop up type for myself but as I explore I might need to open my mind a bit as I am definitely very strong on a small truck. Thus some questions: How involved is it to do the pop up, both time wise and strength wise? Since I haven’t researched pop ups at all, do they come with baths? Thinking probably not but have to ask. What’s the weight of yours?

Thanks!

The photo was from New Smyrna Beach FL on 3/15 we went back to Vermont the next day.

I would not say a popup tc is perfect but I love mine
One downside is the short entry door but I have adapted to it. On the positive side I have had 0 problems with the Northstar.

Here is video of a Northstar 850 popup with a wet shower, cassette toilet and newer electric lift system.

Remember The three major truck manufacturers are in a payload war and every year the numbers go up there is no 1/2 ton trucks only 150/1500 250/2500 and so on

Here is a photo from FR55 Granville Vermont on 5/19

Officially GM made this as a 1/2 ton , HOWEVER , here in NZ , we added some extra leaf springs , called it a 3/4 ton LOL.

I still added another leaf , a sway bar and E load tires .

Camper actual weight is 610 Kgs.

Chassis flex is interesting ...

I've had the truck for 23 years and done some 80k miles .
