New slide in camper

We just completed a 12 state wander in our new Capri Retreat camper, the narrowest, lightest 8 ft slide in I could find with a shower and cartridge toilet. My 2020 GMC 3500 4X4 truck handled the weight fine, camper dry weight weight is 2150 lbs. My truck has the 6.6 liter engine which got 15-16 mpg. I suspect a 3/4 ton truck could handle this camper. We made no reservations and never had a problem finding a campsite. Gas prices ranged from $4.60/gallon (NY) to $3.30 (Tennessee). In 4000 miles we saw only 3 other truck campers. Weve had trailers and Class Cs in the past, truck campers are soooo much easier to travel in and park anywhere. Were surprised how few people enjoy them.

I had one many years ago. About 1975 as I recall. It worked and did what I needed but it was not a comfortable drive. Mainly because of the 1/2 ton under it.

However with your truck it would be a good fit.

For years I never saw one but DW and I were discussing this recently and noted that they are making a comeback. I suspect because of the 2500 and 2500 trucks becoming more comfortable.
