Peeling gel coat a big repair?

Hi all,

I've found a 2007 Alpenlite truck camper I am interested in buying and all looks great with the exception of some peeling gel coat on the front of the cabover.

For any of you who may have dealt with that, how big of a deal and how expensive is it to get that repaired? How reliable is a repair (i.e. no short-term recurrence of the issue) if done right?

I really don't want to deal with peeling gel coat and degradation of the fiberglass long-term so I would want to fix it. I am reluctant to just move on as this model is a perfect fit for what I am looking for and they don't seem to pop up for sale with regularity.

Thanks!

Get some idea of repair cost from shops that fix boats.

Do you have any pictures? is it a damage spot or delamination? If it is delamination you may want to walk away from it. As for damage there are repair kits from most major boat supply houses(West Marine) a little fiberglass repair and off you go.
