Hi, New to group thanks for including me. Looking for pop up truck camper with permanent black and gray water tanks as required to camp where I want to camp. Does anyone know of a model like that? Half ton SRW pick up. Many thanks.

back in the day we first had a 8' caveman pickup camper on a 3/4 ton pickup. it worked great until the two kids came along. but just for the wife and i the camper had a cupboard down next to the floor under the frig a nice porta-potty fit perfect, and worked good. i don't see a permanent mounted toilet in a camper of the size you will need for a 1/2 ton rig. that you could fix the tanks to. i assume there's a reson, but why not a small travel trailer? so much better than a pickup camper. I've been there!

I had a popup camper on an '86 F150 4x4 years ago - it was made by Sun-Lite, a company that's long gone but here's a page describing what's available now -

The F150 with the 300 CID straight Six and a 4 speed was very sluggish but it did get the job done, not always with the approval of people behind me on two lane mountain roads...

i don't like to be a weight cop. but some of the campers listed above are near the 1800# range. the average 1500 has a cargo compacity of 2200#. thats only leaves aprx. 400# for everything you haul. like you and a partner a dog and a full tank of gas.

I know several people with half tons. The maximum payloads on theirs are around 1600 lbs. They do make half tons with 2200 pound payload capacities but they're definitely more rare than average.

OP, what does your truck's door label state? I'm not sure you'll be able to find a camper with both waste tanks that'll be a comfortable fit on the back of a half ton. There are a few pop ups and even a couple of hard sided models with gray tanks but they're really pushing the limits with weight.

Might be best to just go with a cassette toilet and a big blue tank sitting next to the camper to run a hose into for the gray.
