Security fireproof safe

I apologize for the sensitive subject, but I can’t seem to find any information on this. Making or discovering hidden compartments when looking for voids throughout the TC is a great option and works for most things you want to keep hidden from thief, however it doesn’t really address a fire.

Years ago, I had a friend whose house burnt to the ground and they lost everything. However, the families’ contents that were stored in a fireproof safe was untouched. That instantly made a believer out of me.

I understand size and weight are a huge issue for your stationary safe kept at a home base and seems unrealistic for a TC. However maybe fireproof safes…?

Does anybody use a fireproof safe for important papers and/or firearm pistols?
If so, would you have a make and model number?
Do you keep it in the truck or the camper?
And are you satisfied with it or is there another safe you wished you invested in?
Thank you,

NO company makes a completely fire-proof safe! When you read their add it states fire-resistant for X hours. After that any paper inside will be ashes.
I would guess any fire-resistance rated safe big enough to hold much will weigh at least 20 lbs.

I have lock box bolted in and semi hidden. Nothing fancy, secure enough to keep 'honest people honest' and fire rated for about 45 minutes.

In another scenario, a couple that I worked with, were avid boaters. They would travel by their sailboat from Toronto to the Caribbean . On one of their trips, while moored for the night, Fire! A fire proof box would have been on the bottom of the Inland Waterway, but they were prepared. A GO BAG (backpack) containing essentials, one change of clothes (track suit), some cash but a credit card for each one and their passports. This back was kept in a location they had to pass to get off the boat.

We have a portable/hand carry fire resistant safe
Have some important paper docs, couple of memory sticks with important info on them and some 'keep sakes' in the safe

When we leave goes with us in truck
Fire arms are always with us......habit

Otherwise.......Good full coverage Insurance
