Truck camera question
I have a 2020 Chev 3500 with a great camera system. The problem is, when I take off the tailgate to put on my Lance 1172 none of the cameras work. Can someone suggest a workaround?

I’m looking at buying and installing a tadibrothers camera system to mount on the camper that I can view on my iPhone or iPad. I would like to just fool the truck camera system into working with or without the camper on, but without the tailgate.

Subscribed! I'm very interested in this problem/solution as well. I think I read about the owner of a 3500 having the same issue over at RV.net forums.
I always wonder what happens to the backup and trailering cameras, not to mention all the proximity sensors in the bumper, when you jettison the tailgate and stick a TC on.

Solution?
I have ordered a kit for relocation of the tailgate camera. https://camerasource.com/2019-gm-150...-included.html
I will update this post once I get it, install it and test it out.

I ran into the same thing when carrying my AF990 around and not having the tailgate back up camera. The Camera Source website had my answer. Plug and play to my existing back up camera feed cable under the bumper area. Ended up mounting the camera next to the doorway as opposed to up top.
Heres what the existing stereo display shows when activating.
Easy to do and camera came with a 15' cable.

I purchased a plug and play for my 2018 Ram that I mounted on the Fox Landing for my AF 996. Then I purchased a rear view camera & monitor for a view while traveling. I mounted the camera over the door for it. The backup camera I mounted on the flip-up platform and it works good when in reverse plus the rear view camera helps from up high.

Here you go. This company makes a relocation housing and has a bunch of other adaptors as well. I'm going to use this for my Ford F450's 360 degree camera (the rear tailgate one) so that I can re-integrate that camera into my system when I load up the camper.

I bought and installed the camera from https://camerasource.com/2019-...camera-included.html
It works great and integrated right into the truck’s dash display. The only differences I would like is a lower price of course and a way to make the connection to the camera without crawling underneath the truck. I’m getting too old and broken to do that very often. Thanks to all for the advice and interest.

Pictures of my camera installation.
The installation of my replacement camera is complete and I am very satisfied. I like that it integrates into the entire camera system on my truck and works as though it was factory original. I’m attaching some pics now. Sorry that the pics are oriented wrong. I don’t know how to correct that.
Maybe someone can help?

I think if you resize your pics down to a smaller size they will load up correctly orientation wise, Thats what worked for me. Good luck.

Interesting issue. My F150 has a dummy plug when the tail gate is removed. I have not tested it but thought I would toss that in for those that have one.
