first i would like to say hello.

I just bought a half ton silverado. My rear GAWR=3750. i subtracted this from the weight of the rear of truck 2160. that leaves 1590.
i was told by RV dealers not to exceed the 1590.
Now i need to find a truck camper that has dry weight weight of approx. 1300.

any help would be great.

A small popup will probably keep in the range. Some of them are quite nice.

As stated above, a small pop-up might meet your needs. You arn't going to get alot for the weight your restricted to. If this is not an issue than look at the soft side pop-ups. Like a tent trailer but smaller.

Tony, with a 1/2 ton truck you are pretty well limited to a bed cap or pulling a small trailer.

Glad you found us, but now you find that you should have looked at the slide in campers first to see what kind of weight was involved then look for a truck laarge enoough to carry what you liked.

I think before we jump down this poor guys throat about weight issues. We should let him tell us what it is he is looking for. He may just be in the mrket for a small pop-up or camper shell. If not then let the weight replies fly.

I don't feel that anyone is jumping down his throat. He already knows that he has 1300# to work with and suggestions are small trailers or basically a cap or shell. If I did offend anyone I appologize.

Has anyone seen a slide-in or truck camper that will come in at 1300#? I have not seen one in ages.

starcraft makes a popup with a dry weight of 1395#'s. (No toilet or shower)

I was thinking of adding supersprings, but i'm sure this is a good Idea.

I guess i just need to buy a Funmover..lol

If you believe you can keep your added weight down to 300lbs. you may be very surprised. About 3yrs ago we did the snowbird thing to Az. for 2mos. W/truck & camper listed below. I figure the truck W/ wife & me W/full tank fuel is about 8K. Camper has tag saying it weighs 2100lbs wet. On the way home I saw a DOT scales with readout on and nobody there so stopped & weighed. I was shocked at the total weight of 12500lbs. I was 1K overloaded. I knew I had some extra weight but it couldn't be more than 500lbs. I have no idea where I accumulated 2K more weight. If you choose to run overloaded just be aware if you have poor handling, stopping etc. that may be why.
