I have a friend that tried it by adding air bags, but ended up going to a F250 Ford.

you want to play in the game you need to get a real p/u. not a grocery getter/rug rat hauler.

No way unless you will be happy with a topper or bed cover.

It's not worth it. You need a bigger truck. I had a 1996 Dodge 1500. I put an 8' pop-up TC on it. I removed the tailgate and the spare tire to save weight. I was over the truck's GVWR with no people in the cab and no gear or water in the camper. I added air bags and packed light; it was usually just me. Even so I was well over the capacity of the truck. I eventually upgraded to a 3500 SRW Chevy and an 11' TC. I was still over weight.
