Want to build a truck camper dolly
I want to build a truck slide in camper dolly so I can move my camper in and out of my garage.. It would be on a cement drive way. Since my camper is lite, (1630 Lbs) I’m thinking of using 5 inch caster wheels Amazon 5Inch Caster Wheels (Set of 4), Heavy Duty Casters with Brake 2400 Lbs,Locking Casters Wheels for Furniture, Castor Wheels for Cart, And making the frame out of 2 x 6 x 8 ft Lumber in a latter type configuration. It would only sit about a little over a foot off of the floor. Is this doable and is the caster wheels I’m looking at on Amazon good enough for the weight of the camper.

I am looking at doing the same thing, I'll be watching to see how it turns out. I want to get mine in the shop so I can pull of the siding and fix anything that needs fixing and change it to a better insulation, but my shop door is only 10.5 feet tall.

Go to Tractor supply and buy 4 X 8 utility trailer. Place blocks on it to accommodate the back drop down as needed. You can attain minimum height and move it around with ease

Use 2 caster wheels and 2 fixed wheels, otherwise it will steer all over the place.

Curious... What is your camper sitting in/on in your avatar? Looks like something on wheels.
Never mind, followed your link and found it to be utility trailer.

If the 4 x 8 trailer isn't wide enough, I purchased a 5x8 trailer rated for a 1/2 ton. I think it was at Home Depot.
Safe travels and all the best.

I too needed a dolly of some sort to be able to back my truck camper into my work shop that has a door that is too low for the camper sitting in the truck. I was trying to come up with a way to build a large wheel dolly that could roll on gravel up to the shop. After measuring, I realized that the camper legs would restrict how low it could be which was taller than what I was originally thinking.
I had an old 16ft lowboy trailer that wasn't being used, so after some additional measuring, I cut off the rear 4ft behind the rear tires, which allows the camper to sit on a 2 inch foam board at the right height to keep the legs about 2 inches off the ground and positioned forward enough so that the center of gravity is just right. I can back it into the shop with my truck pretty easily.

I have a pickup camper dolly in Iowa I no longer use. Have 5000 pound pickup camper worked great. Could roll it one person. Anyone close to Iowa might be interested?

Rieco Titan sells camper dollys. Here's a link to their 8' version:
https://riecotitan.com/product/8-camper-dolly/
I know nothing about the product beyond the stuff on the web page.
I am considering a couple of utility trailers at Tractor Supply. They would serve other purposes beyond camper storage.

mhbell -
Have you made any progress on this?
RandyP -
I like that idea a lot and using an electric trailer dolly at the tongue, I can move it around anywhere I want.
Also, may I ask what brand that side awning that is in your pic?
Thanks!
Cheers

The trailer dolly works well for my situation. I needed something that would lower the camper enough to fit under the carport that is in front of my shop and also be able to roll on the gravel drive leading up to it. The gravel prevented using anything with dolly wheels on it.
The awning in the picture is a Moon shade brand (Moonfab.com) It's the smaller one (9x7) that they offer and the extra Moon wall short shade.
I haven't used it yet, but I think it will be just what I need. It connects using suction cups and can be placed on either side of the camper and also be used on our Jeep. There are several YouTube videos showing the shade on different vehicles.
