Children say the darnest things

Alas, where has all our innocence gone?

While I sat in the reception area
of my doctor's office, a woman rolled an elderly man
in a wheelchair into the room. As she went
to the receptionist's desk, the man sat there, alone
and silent. Just as I was thinking I should make
small talk with him, a little boy slipped off
his mother's lap and walked over to
the wheelchair. Placing his hand on the
man's, he said, I know how you feel. My
mom makes me ride in the stroller too..'

A friend with a daughter who had profound disabilities and a younger son who grew up thinking his sister's wheelchair was a toy for him to play on was in Walmart one day. He was about 3 and went up to a man in a power wheelchair, looked it over carefully and said, "cool wheels!"

Both of them are so good.
A good friend of mine lost his foot half way from his knee in a motorcycle accedent. He got his replacement foot and started riding again.
One day he sat side saddle on his bike in a handicap parking spot next to a Denny's getting ready to go inside.
A couple walked by and the man said out loud "You don't look handicap to me."
My friend popped off his leg and said "You don't look stupid either but I guess we both were wrong."
And life goes on.
