When the important senator from the landlocked state says you will build submarines in MY home town, the military listens.

SSN 666 is the Hawkbill. Also known as the Devil Boat Interestingly SSN 664 was the Sea Devil. The USS Hawkbill Sail is in Arco ID. One of my old boats SSN 661 USS Lapon sail is in Springfield MO.

It is in Arco ID. It is a great place to visit. The "first atomic city".

The middle of the desert in ID is the last place I expected to see a sail.....

SL-1 Accident

This area was described as the first Atomic City. Due to an Fast nuclear reaction/Meltdown that occurred at an Army facility know as SL-1. When one goes through Navy Nuclear school the information as to what occurred for the meltdown is taught. The Navy continued training on Nuclear reactors at Pocatello Idaho. They also had Facilities at West Milton NY and Windsor Conn.
