Football makes sense now
With Super Bowl coming, this seemed timely.....
Football FINALLY makes sense..........
A guy took his blond girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.
'Oh, I really liked it,' she replied, 'especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents.'
Dumbfounded, her date asked, 'What do you mean?'
'Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!' I'm like...Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!

As an ex-pat Brit, it took me a long time to understanf NFL football. DW picked it up fairly quickly. I still can't figure out how a game with four 15-minute quarters takes over 3 hours.
In Rugby, which I played (very poorly) in high school, the only player the opposition could physically touch was the one carrying the ball. No blocking, no attacking the QB, no time-outs and no stopping the clock except for the end of the half and the end of the game. Also, no one in Rugby wears body armor. The NFL would be much more entertaining if those prima-donnas didn't have 30 pounds of Kevlar protecting them.
I'll be doing something else on Sunday while DW is watching those clowns skating around in Texas, and we sure won't be hosting or attending a Super-Bowl party. And don't get me started on the ridiculous half time variety show. What the hell does that have to do with football?
I guess professional "sports" are really Hollywood style entertainment and have nothing whatever to do with real "sports".

THIS IS A JOKE THREAD
But also you probably couldn't/woudn't understand baseball either - which I would much rather watch along with automobile racing, not necessarily NA$CAR. Yes, automobile racing is also a team sport/pasttime. F1 which bombs in America every time Bernie deigns to come here, but seems to be loved in the UK and Europe is D-U-L-L and follow the leader. Then there is your prima donna counterpart - cricket. To an American, that's about as interesting as watching paint dry. And soccer, which is football to the rest of the world. It sure ain't taking America by storm even with thousands of teams of kids and teens playing with their parents dutifully carting them to practice and games. David Beckham couldn't get enough attention here (when he wasn't 'injured') and had to return to a European team. As far as entertainment - watching the drunken fans during and after a soccer - oops, football, game, is enough.
