Getting older

As I get older and remember all the People I've lost along the way, I think to my self,

Yeah. Don't think a day ever went by that my Dad (25th ID, Korea) didn't think about his buddies that never made it home. Weighed heavily on him.

Part about "Saving Private Ryan" that drove him bonkers was when the captain said, "Earn this." Terrible burden to put on a man, he said. But what I think the author meant was, that's the burden for the rest of us, the 99% who never served. Not everyone is mindful of that. We should be.
