We did that once.

Police made us exit the interstate because of a bad wreck that was going to take hours to clear. They had a rope overhead and if you successfully passed under the rope they waved you forward yelling "GO GO GO" Short distance down the detour was a old RR bridge that looked impossibly narrow and 'clearance challenged', but the police at the bridge waved us on yelling "you will make it go go go. We successfully passed the first overhead beam but then......The noise was horendious....no not the roof air-conditioned hitting the bridge noise, but Sharon screaming noise!

What they didn't consider was the bridge spanned a dip in the roadway. As my coach front end started to rise on the other side of the bridge the back end still hadn't gotten to the bottom of the dip. We lost a OTA antenna and air-conditioned.

Of course the police paid for the damage, right?

A nearby state park has a one-lane wooden bridge at one entrance with 3T, 9' clearance weight limit signs posted before exiting the highway. A delivery driver wanted to save the time of driving 20 miles further by using the truck entrance.
Hs got hung-up on overhead beams, DNR officer was called (they have more power than state police).

Shorting this explanation; the local newspaper reported the company the driver worked for was fined the cost of replacing the entire historic wooden bridge, driver lost his CDL license, fined by the state, then that company fired him

Very true. What most people don't realize is if they damage any public property through their negligence, the governing body can hold them responsible. Guard rail is a prime example. If you loose control and hit guardrail, the state, or county or local governments can bill you. When I was in the working world (20+ years ago), billing ran $100 per foot and much much more it it included a end treatment.
