Grew up in poverty
As a little kid I grew up in what is now called Appalachia. We didn't know we were poor, but I guess we were. Not a lot of toys but a neighbor gave me a little weanling pup that was pretty smart and the neighbor told me to train him. Mama finally told me he could stay in my room but she would not have a dog pooping in her floor. My neighbor liked me I think and said son the best way to train him to go outside when he poops is, 'each time he poops in the floor, just rub his nose in it and toss him out the window'.
Sure enough, he was a smart pup. In about 6 weeks, every time he pooped in the floor, he would stick his nose in and jump out the window.
