Nor am I .
A friend who is off grid on a small island , with solar , converted his battery bank to lithium ( $4,000 + ), and during a cold snap found out his batteries wouldn't take a charge if the bank was below a certain temp . Lost his 12 volt freezer full of food , haven't heard if the freezer still works.

Where did he have his batteries where it was cold enough long enough to run them down completely, and then stay too cold to charge to the point that everything in his freezer thawed out? Seems to me that would take days. He sounds like he had no idea of what he was doing. Especially if he didnt have a back up generator!

It most certainly was the lfp batteries fault not the guy building the system or at least that's what many would want to believe.

Odd story, if it was cold enough to not allow charging, why didn't he put the frozen food outside.

OK ; Sorry I should have provided more info .
They ; the home owners ; snowbird for 4 1/2 months .
Their previous setup ; flooded batteries/solar ; served them well for many years , including six years of the house being vacant over the winter.
As an up grade , they installed the lithium battery bank and the correct chargers to work with their solar system.
While they're away the house is normally inspected by a non resident neighbor every weekend.
The only access to the island , is by private boat ; three mile trip from the mainland ; winter storm kept the neighbor from accessing the island for over two weeks .
During the storm night time temperatures went down to the 10f range with day time back up close to freezing .
Not sure , when in the two + weeks , the batteries ran down and didn't recover during the short periods of sunlight . But the freezer wasn't powered and the food had started to thaw by the time the issue was noticed . Room with the freezer is exposed to sunlight, so possibly daytime temperatures did get into the 40 range.
Anyhow when the neighbor did get in and noticed the lights not working and checked the solar and battery monitor , he then inspected the freezer .

This would be why Battleborn offers a battery with a built-in heating element to prevent such disasters.
I love my lithium batteries.
