Last Sunday morning, our pastor noticed a young boy,
about 7 or 8 years old, staring up at a large plaque
that hung in the foyer of our parish's small church.
It was covered with names, and small American flags
were mounted on either side of it. The youngster had
been staring at the plaque for some time, so the
pastor walked up, stood beside the little boy and said
quietly, "Good morning."
"Good morning, sir," replied the young man, still
focused on the plaque. "What is this? He asked,
gesturing to the plaque." "Well, son, it's a memorial
to all the young men and women who died in the
service." Soberly, they stood together staring at the
large plaque. Then, with a barely audible voice,
trembling with fear, the boy asked, "Which service?
The 8:30 or the 10:45?"
Yup, it's all true....
