I remember going to the drive-in with my dad and going home with my mom.

But not many drive-ins left. It would be nice if they made a comeback, perhaps they will.

They have set up a couple of drive ins using inflatable screens because of the covid problems in North America. They worked wonders for families suffering a no place to go syndrome.

I remember the Air Raid Warden banging on our door to tell us to close our drapes because light was shining thru the windows. WW2 stuff

I remember going to one of the highest buildings in our town and going up on the roof to fulfill my CAP (Civilian Air Patrol) volunteer duty.

I don't remember that but I remember that when we Midshipmen went on our first summer 'cruise' some of the more gullible ones answered affirmatively when they were asked if they wanted to stand 'Mail Buoy' watch. I guess they really wanted their mail.

Or a left handed smoke shifter to keep the campfire from blowing smoke into your eyes?

I have ACTUALLY seen and taken a joy ride or 2 on one of those old railroad speeders that you stand up on and pump the handle up and down to power you along the tracks.

They also had a little one man speeder that sat over one rail, and had sort of an outrigger 3rd wheel we used to "borrow" as kids.

We figured out how to pick the lock on the sheds they were kept in down at the old railroad station after it was left unmanned.

Just part of growing up out in the country on the farm.
