Limericks

I thought it was high flippin time
For a thread that encourages rhyme
Its so much more fun
Coming up with a pun
Than whining how gas prices climb

Fuel prices just keep getting higher
rising like smoke from a fire
The problem it seems
is that traveling means
we can't go where we desire

Why are they called “Limericks”? All the ones I know are about Nantucket.

There once was a lass from Nantucket
she kept her fish in a bucket
her fish was gold
Low and behold,
It was a big golden nugget

Listen, my children, to my epistle
Of the long, long ride of Israel Bissell,
Who outrode Paul by miles and time
But didn't rate a poet's rhyme.

Paul Revere never shouted out "The British are coming". Israel rode all the way to Philly in four days, killing his first ride.

Nice bit of trivia there TandW!

I was just reading a thread about check in/out etiquette when inspiration struck:

Although it appears we’ve checked out
We’re really just out and about
This spot’s occupied
We’ve gone for a ride
But coming back soon, have no doubt!

That sounds like the guy parked across the street from me in the campground we left this morning. He was there earlier in the week, we had a nice chat, and he left a few days ago. Someone else took his spot, but then he showed up yesterday to take the same spot he had occupied before he left.

When reserving a COE site,
you have to research a mite,
a reservation made,
with just the right shade,
makes the trip satisfyingly alright.
