Septic Vent...

I'm flipping channels and stopped in a movie where a guy is trying to syphon gas out of a class A, he starts coughing as if he swallowed some gas, but come to find out he had the hose in the septic vent.

Good joke, but I think all class As have the vent on the roof.

This was a really old Class A and the vent or whatever it was had a flip door panel similar to the gas panel. It had a septic decal above the panel. Maybe someone that's had an older MH knows what the real purpose. Or, maybe it was the fresh water fill and Hollywood wanted to make a funny.

I seem to remember something like that on a friends Tioga. This was about 12 years ago. Still, it makes for a good story for the un-knowing public out there.

It took a while, but I found it...yes, I'm bored. The movie is called Reeker. Here are two screen captures from it. Is that really a septic vent?

Looks a lot like the fresh water fill that was on my 5er, but that is clearly labeled septic vent. I would want a lock on it too.

What's the purpose of a septic vent there. Is it so that you can flush the tank through the opening? I know the decal looks original, but could it be fake?

I have no idea. Do you know if there are any vents on top?

It was in a movie, so it had to be true!

Hollywood at its best.

I don't trust Hollywood, or the Medea. It sure looks like the water fill.

LOL. True. When I first saw it I gagged. I've done the swallowing gas bit and burped gas for a week. Couldn't imagine black tank stuff.

That is definitely the fresh tank fill hole, with a sticker on it which is wrong, but The movie wouldn't be as funny or sick, if it were right. And as someone already mentioned, it is a movie so it must be right. I don't know how you would get a gas nozzle in there to put gas in either, for the guy to think it was fuel tank.
