A priest known for his love of golf wakes up one glorious early summer Sunday morning and decides it's just too nice a day
not to golf.
So he gets on the phone to the young priest just out of the seminary helping with the parish and in his best croaking, raspy voice, feigns sickness and tells the young priest he is far too sick to go to church, he must handle the mass by himself.
He then hurry's into his golf clothes, loads his clubs into his car and speeds off into the country where he's sure nobody will recognize him.
On the first tee, as he's readying himself the good Lord and St. Peter are looking down on this in disapproval. St. Peter turns to the Lord and says "Boss, you
can't let him get away with this,
him of all people skipping church for golf!" The Lord agrees.
The priest brings the club down on the ball and there is a perfect 'crack' as the club meets the ball, the ball goes high and long, straight down the fairway, drops onto the front of the green and rolls gently to the pin where it drops in the cup. A hole in one!!!!
Stunned both the priest and St. Peter just stand there in awe and silence. Then St. Peter turns to the Lord and says "Boss!! Why in the name of all that's holy did you do that?? He should be punished, not
rewarded!"
The Lord smiles, turns to St. Peter and says "Think about it, who's he going to tell?"
