The visit to the Doctor,

A man was not feeling well so he went to see his doctor.

The doctor probes him, takes blood samples and sends them to the lab then sends the man to X-ray and for a CAT scan, then uses the MRI equipment and all the high tech medical diagnostic equipment the office has to find out what is wrong with the patient.

The doctor finally reaches his conclusion and tells the man that he's sorry but the patient only has ten to live. "Ten what asks the man??? Ten years? Ten months? Ten weeks? Ten what?"

And the doctor says nine...

eight...

seven...

six....

Yeah! Does he tell you afterward how surprised he is at how well you are doing?

I had major abdominal surgery about 10 years ago (well about 10 years and 3 weeks ago) for suspected gallbladder / bile duct cancer, which thankfully turned out to be benign, but it was still a 7+ hour replumbing surgery where they used a section of small intestine to construct a new bile duct with something like a 6-8% chance of not making it out of the hospital. 2 or 3 days post op when the full biopsy section results came back in, one of the post operative infection specialist doctors was in my room, and she made a comment along the lines of how wonderful it was to have a positive outcome from one of these surgeries, and I got the feeling that the last several she had been associated with had not gone nearly as well. You know the we really needed a win sort of comment.

I hear you clearly. But maybe she was young and cute and you could relate it as an "Out of the mouths of babes" moment.

DOC held back until 6th and final surgery.....total replumbing job
He told me there were 2 occasions where HE was concerned if I was going to pull thru

I guess the three central lines in my neck should have been a clue

I guess you all could look at the bright side, at least the doctors didn't tell you you were too fat and didn't get enough exercise like mine always does.

I lost over 30 pounds that summer between initial routine doctor visit in May when I mentioned a few issues I had been experiencing the previous week or two, and when I had the major surgery in August, after several other tests, MRI (MRCP), endoscope ERCP and spyglass ERCP, contrast CAT scans, etc all without actively trying to.

Saw my PCP today. He was very happy with all of my lab results. Even said my kidney functions looked really good.................... for a guy my age. Seems to be a bit lacking in bedside manor.
