Walmart 2 year replacement warranty

Okay, I understand the extended warranties for electronics, power tools etc. at Walmart.
We went grocery shopping this evening and when they rang up a replacement co2 cartridge for my soda maker, they asked if I wanted a 2 year warranty on it. I was baffled, isn't that about the same as buying a warranty for a can of wd40?
After thinking about it for awhile, I realized how easy it would be to bring it back empty and use the warranty to get a free one. Seems like they are asking to be ripped off. I dunno.

The extended "warranty" is a huge money maker for WM. I once bought one for a small electric space heater, for 2 years they replaced 3 heaters without complaint. The 3rd one is still working now after 4 years. Does that make me a winner?

I bought some hot dogs and buns at Dollar General today, after scanning them at the self checkout the price came up followed by a line saying Store Discount $0.00, no idea why, some programing glitch I assume, as the buns did not cause the Store Discount line to pop up

Lol, that's the worst discount ever. Well I guess a negative discount would be worse.

My wife bought a bag of plums at WM. When the cashier scanned the bag, the machine rang it up 3 times. He took off one charge, ran it over the scanner again, and it rang up 3 more times. A supervisor came to help and a series of subtractions and additions ensued. When my wife came home, she showed me the receipt. Between the two of them, they'd managed to overcharge her to the tune of 2 extra bags of plums.

So I took the receipt back to WM, to the CS counter. The gal tried to count the charges and chargebacks, and concluded that I owed for one more bag! I kid you not! Wherever the receipt had a charge followed by a subtraction, she said that charge was cancelled out by the subtraction below it... but then she'd count all the subtractions that she'd used to cancel charges, and not the charges themselves. Double-counting the chargebacks! Fortunately, the young fella next to her got free from another transaction and came to the rescue; he counted accurately and I got about $10 back.

Worst of all.... the plums were SOUR!!! No amount of sugar could sweeten them enough to tolerate eating them. Moral of the story: never buy plums from WM!

That reminds me. I got $100 cash back at one of the automated check outs. It gave me 20 5 dollar bills. So I asked the girl there if I could get 20 dollar bills instead. She took the fives and gave me 3 20's and 2 of the fives back. I said uhh that was $100, she took the fives and gave me a twenty. I was up to $80 at that point. Another nudge and she gave me the last twenty.

One really does get what they pay for these days.

We cannot stand any store fruit.

Of course most of it grows here and we have about 50 fruit trees so tree ripened is soon good.

Store bought is picked green then sometimes gassed with ethylene to ripen them.

Result is it looks like plum but does not taste like one.

Always wondered what a real banana tastes like...
