2018 Tampa Show camping

I called the Florida State Fair camping office and they said RV FHU camping was under the RV Association. I called them and they said information would be posted on their webpage around end of August, or first of September.

Can somebody shed light on what is the usual arraignments for camping?

I live a few miles away so don't camp there,,, but their webpage says teh Fairgrounds handles onsite camping -- so it looks like a circle to get an answer

Hi,
Past experience says the FHU on site camping is taken by the people that have a booth to show their merchandise and any manufacturers who have staff that may need a spot. Attendee camping is dry camping in the parking lot. Many times it is on the South side of the fair grounds. If you are attending a sponsored rally, (i.e., Newmar Rally) there will be 30 AMP electric provided but no water/sewer.

Camping is all around the fairgrounds. You can get electric, but come in with empty gray and black tanks, and a full fresh water tank.

We've been there - a lot. You can dry camp in the parking lot for $20 per night (assuming you are at your rig when they come around in the evening to collect otherwise you get a free night). You can't get into the parking lot until the show opens to the general public (a Wednesday, 1/6/2019 for the next show).

or.... you can go to the fairground website and make reservations. But it's too early right now. You'll have to follow the Tampa Super Show site and the Fairground's web site.

There are only electric sites. If you are lucky you might be close to a water spigot and maybe you can reach it with a hose (or else just lug water). I'm pretty sure there is a "honey bucket" service you can schedule.

If you get a site they will tell you when to arrive so you can line up and be escorted in. At least that's how it works when you go with a group. You can get in on Tuesday I think if you get a 'campsite'. Most parking is grass, maybe gravel, not likely pavement.

We just usually stay only maybe 2 days, sometimes 3 nights in the parking lot. There is plenty of room (you can reposition in the evening when all the cars leave), it's open 24 hrs/day once the show starts. It's quiet and safe; lots of folks do it.

or...... find a local campground and drive back and forth a few days. The downside to that is you pay daily parking. A one day entrance fee is good for free entry on the next day (still have to pay parking). Watch the Super Show website for a dollar discount coupon. I think senior day is Wed so you might save a buck that way.

Since we can go in on Tuesday for industry days, and since we don't care much for their campground and can't dry camp on Tue night we just stay at Lazydays. They are likely booked already for the show, but you can still try; they usually have a waiting list.

Hope some of this helps. Others with experience may also have some info.

The rallies there take a lot of electric space, American coach Tiffen etc, I have been 3 years in a row and going again next year, great time.

So, will 30 AMP be available or will we be boondocking? If no electric, will we be too close to run generators?

Sorry - I guess I rambled on a bit. If you get a reservation you should have electric (not more than 30 amps). If not or if you stay in the parking area, which is just as close as camping, you can use a generator.

We went a few years ago and stayed at Hillsboro River State Park. One can see a lot at the show, but its kind of overwhelming and crowded. If you show the slightest interest in and RV, the sales staff will be all over you pushing for the sale.

Thank You. I'm debating about upgrading my batteries and trying to figure my CBA.
