A Quiet, Beautiful Place in Oregon

Looking to getting away from crowds? John Day Fossil Beds Nat'l Monument in east central Oregon is the place to go. Hwy 26 is OK for any size RV. We stayed at Clyde Holliday Rec. Site campground in John Day which was great!

Looks like a great place to visit. We are visiting Bend this year, but sounds like we should plan to venture further east. Thanks for the article!

I tried to look at reservations for anytime in October and there is nothing. Not much information to find it appears. I must be missing something.

Are you talking about Clyde Holliday State Park? Here is some information on it and lots more with a Google.

Tons of boondocking around John Day too. Went there for the big eclipse.

Thanks! We just returned from a 5-week Oregon trip yesterday. Enjoyed it so much we're thinking of going back in September, so we'll keep this in mind. We drove US20 rather than 26 this time, and the Malheur River Gorge between Burns and Vale was an unexpected treasure!
