Close, but it's always nice to be in safe area and main road ways.

We are Thousand Trails members and have stayed at Medina Lakes outside of San Antonio. But it is around 40 miles into San Antonio from there, probably around 35 minute drive to the HEB on Culebra.

We stayed at the Alamo KOA twice last year, once this year, one night stopovers while travelling. NE of downtown in what looks to be a mostly industrial area. Nice park, fenced and gated, lots of trees, bit tighter roads and sites than I prefer but no problems getting in/out. Will likely use it again next trip to SPI.

We stayed at the Travelers World RV park in SA, and it was fine for the week we were there. There is a shuttle available just outside the park that will take you to all the hot spots in SA.

Having said that, we really prefer Bandera, TX. Depending on where you are going is SA, it can take 45 minutes or more to get there, but Bandera has some great venues for western music and dancing. Last time in Bandera, we stayed at the Pioneer River Resort and they had a bunch of activities going on nearly every night. That trip was pre chungflu, and I am not sure what they are doing these days. The other great thing about this park is that you can walk to just about anything in Bandera.

X2 on Bandera. It’s 25 miles from us and we go there too. There are several good RV parks in the area.

There are a couple of RV parks on the west side of San Antonio near SeaWorld but I've never stayed at either one. We have a bunch of old Air Force friends that retired there that we plan to visit sometime this spring and several of them recommended Blazing Star RV Resort.

Bandera, Texas is the self proclaimed "Cowboy capital of the world".
If you go there, be sure to check out 11th Street Cowboy Bar, the Chikin Coup and Arkey Blues Silver Doller Saloon. All usually have live bands and are within walking distance of the Pioneer RV park. There are a lot of bars with live music in Bandera. Many people get around on horses and golf carts. It's a very relaxed town here in the Texas hill country. Safe travels.

As mentioned, Bandera is a GREAT place to drink and country dance. Definitely can get the Texas experience there. Madina lake is just down the road and Lost Maples is the other direction, great if leaves are changing.

Tejas Rodeo in Bulverde 20 min north of SA is a great place to see Saturday rodeo then dance to usually a great country band. Awesome Steakhouse on premises.

I don't normally share my secret spots but... here ya go...

The Wild Donkey "Hey" Barn
101 Rowland Lane, Kerrville, Texas 78028
https://hill-country-visitor.com/all...-ass-hey-barn/

Plenty of RV spots on the river. They are open everyday and they have fish fry's every Friday evening.

If you want to stay in San Antonio I'd recommend these RV resorts in order of preference:

1) Green Lake RV Resort on the southeast side of San Antonio --> https://www.qualityrvresorts.com/des...ake-rv-resort/

2) Blazing Star RV Resort --> https://www.sunrvresorts.com/resorts.../blazing-star/

3) Admiralty RV Resort --> https://www.qualityrvresorts.com/des...lty-rv-resort/

If you wouldn't mind being ~20 miles west of the Alamo, my wife's favorite "San Antonio area" RV resort is the Alsatian RV Resort located in Castroville, TX --> Alsatian RV Resort – San Antonio RV Park 830-931-9190

The wife is a bit of an "RV resort snob" so if the nightly cost is $60 - $80 that's OK since we're only "long weekenders" given we both remain blessed with great, full time careers. All four of these resorts meet her desires i.e. wide, concrete spots, good amenities, clean / well maintained facilities, etc. You can't go wrong at any of these four resorts.

Enjoy your visit this fall! Best wishes for safe travels!
