I am curious what to expect when I sit out in the evening in the southern states (FLtoTX) this winter
In MN and WI it is hard to enjoy the evening without sitting in a screened area due to biting insects in the summer.

I am trying to decide if I would use a tent that can double as a screen house if I have room to pack it in my little RV.

You can expect biting flying insects in Florida anytime before the first freeze of the season kills them off. In The Orlando area of Central Florida, the first freeze is usually very late December or early January. South Florida doesn't typically freeze so you will most always have some biting bugs outdoors, especially near water. I always keep a screen enclosure in my RV for Florida camping ... I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

That is too big of a geographic area to predict. The list of variables is endless.

Might want to get a portable screen room to carry with you. They are relatively cheap and easy to put up if you need one.

We got ours in WalMart on sale for $39.00

Georgia and Florida's coastal marsh areas can have gnats almost any time. There is nothing on the market to keep them off nor screens to keep them out. We have better luck in the winter but not a slam dunk. Skeeters should not be much of a problem after the first frost but depends on standing water along with temperature. My bride uses 30% deet wipes since bugs book cross country tickets to bite her.
