Alabama beaches
Can someone please recommend a family-oriented campground within walking distance to a white sand beach in Alabama (or maybe even Florida)?
I would prefer Alabama due to logistics of travel, but I can do the Florida panhandle if need be.

Awesome area. Great seafood dining. Beautiful sandy beaches.

Dauphin island campground. Amazing park walking distance to private beach. Entire island has something to offer. Ferry boat rides, bird sanctuary, fort Gaines, and great fishing. Not a tourist trap just a small fishing town. Brand New bathhouse and playground. Just be sure not to cancel, their policy sucks...

The thing with Gulf State Park is that it's so far from everything. You can walk to the beach but you're not doing it toting a cooler, Beach bag and a chair. It's a long walk. Any shopping or dining is definitely a drive. Buena Vista is across the street from the beach but has no access, beach side is private property. Pandion Ridge on Canal Rd is nicer than Gulf State Park IMO. There are several class A only parks in the area that are really nice but none on the beach. Bella Terra, Heritage, and Terry Cove are all nice class a parks. I think Beuna Vista is A's, C's, and fivers only, not sure.

You might want to check with Buena Vista, I think they own a walk thru alley that gives you access to the beach.

Pandion Ridge is where we stayed and drove to Cotton Bayou beach. Smaller. And less traffic.

I think you have to use Romar Beach Public access which is very close but not within easy walking distance. I could be wrong on this, it's been awhile since we looked at the park.

I think "walking distance" is going to be a stumbling block. I'd be thinkin' bike ride or short drive.
